"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." - Bill Shankly

Jolene the (New) Ranger Cheerleader

With the end of another season comes the inevitable personnel changes, including the now famous Ranger Cheerleader position. After a year as our unofficial and unsanctioned mascot, Marlina has passed the crown and pom poms to our newest Ranger Cheerleader...

Jolene

Jolene is having a massive wardrobe malfunction, but I'm sure that once she finds the yellow and black Ranger outfit that Marlina so proudly wore since spring of 2008, she'll be giving us enthusiastic "rah rahs!" for many seasons to come.

Congratulations, 'Gers. You've Earned This.

As I await independent confirmation of the scoring details following today's 8-1 Blitzkreig (get it?  Get it?) in order to write the official match summary, please allow me to reward your efforts with additional photos of "our" very own Ranger Cheerleader, Marlina.  As a San Diego Chargers cheerleader, Marlina knows a thing or two about blitzes, broken noses, and playing in the sun. Enjoy.

Your manager hears your poll-related requests and wants to help out whenever possible. Match summary to follow.

Cheers.

FC77 Rangers Division Championship Match

The GPSD 0-30, Third Division Rose City Division Championship Match will be played Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at Delta Strasser Field.  Kick-off is at 4:00 p.m. First place finisher 'Gers will be playing runners-up Controlled Chaos under the lights and on the turf.  All friends, fans, or members of the club are invited to come out and support the Yellow and Black for one last glorious match...and encouraged to wear yellow, if you got it.

"Gimme an 'R'!  Gimme an 'A'!  Gimme an 'N'!..."
(Please don't make Marlina sad by not supporting your local club.)

You Asked For It...

Ranger Cheerleaders!

The most recent poll question asked you to vote on what you would most like to see in the GPSD fall season.  Do you want linesmen to keep better track of offsides?  Naw. How about a league newsletter or an FA Cup open tournament?  Nope.  Playing the final at PGE Park in front of an adoring crowd of maybe dozens?  No.  By a truly staggering margin--a landslide, if you will--you wanted...Rangers Cheerleaders.

This wasn't the first time "Rangers Cheerleaders" has won the poll.  When asked what amenity you most wanted to see at the Montessori Earth School, you resoundingly said...Rangers Cheerleaders.

Your manager has heard your pleas. He wants to make recreational soccer a better experience for you.  So I give you our first Ranger Cheerleader.  I think her name is Marlina.  I think her turn-ons include long walks on the beach and snuggling in front of the fire.  Her turn-offs are probably mean people and pollution.

I suppose this would be a grossly inappropriate post to remind you that your children's entries for the Junior Ranger Logo Contest are due in two weeks, wouldn't it?  Yes, I suppose so.  (If this doesn't merit at least a half dozen comments, I do not know what would...)

Cheers!
