"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." - Bill Shankly

Week 3 Roundup or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

This week the Yellow and Black pounded 8 goals past Blitz’s cheerful goalkeeper, Cha Cha Cha danced around No Subs, and our valiant friends at Wolfhounds FC huffed and puffed against the Green Dragons.

FC 77 Rangers 8 - 1 Blitz
No Subs 1 - 2 Cha Cha Cha
Green Dragons 6 - 0 Wolfhounds FC

Thus the 3rd Rose standings compute Cha Cha Cha on top; Green Dragons and Rangers tied with 6 points and plus 3 goal differential; No Subs and Blitz following with 3 points apiece; and Wolfhounds remaining in the basement with zero points or wins.

Wolfhounds FC0300318-9

While I don’t quite understand the computations which place us into third I would like to thank the GPSD officials for their timely recording of the results.

Hopefully the spicing of our strike rate will soon be reported in the the GPSD Top Scorers for Spring 2009.

Week 2 Roundup... or Not

Sadly the GPSD are were keeping us in suspense over this week’s results, but as of 6PM this evening your dedicated reporter can finally confirm the official results:

Wolfhounds FC 1 - 5 FC 77 Rangers
Blitz 3 - 4 Cha Cha Cha
Green Dragons 3 - 1 No Subs

Unconfirmed reports blamed difficulties integrating the league’s reporting structure with new transfer methods.

When contacted for comment regarding the delays in reporting, a GPSD official speaking on the condition of anonymity blamed “unanticipated delivery obstacles”. The official later confirmed the, ahem, “pipes are now clear”.

While we eagerly await the results, I invite you to learn the basic steps of the Cha-cha-cha. Ranger’s striker James (“I Like to Move It-Move It”) McConnachie claims these Latin hip movements provide perfect practice for dancing around opposing goalkeepers.

You can judge for yourselves this weekend.

Edited to include results.

Week 1 Round Up

For your convenience, this news hound has sniffed out the Over 30's 3rd Rose City results from the GPSD web site (www.gpsdsoccer.com). It appears the rest of our division will be playing on Wednesday evenings at Delta Strasser. See the official schedule for details on when they play.

Here are the Spring 2009 Week 1 results as officially posted:

FC77 Rangers 1 - 4 No Subs
Cha Cha Cha 3 - 1 Green Dragons
Blitz 7 - 2 Wolfhounds FC

I'll try to update during the week when the results are posted, but this is no mean feat because we never know when the results will actually be entered. As a bonus, the top scorers from around the league are available here.

Enjoy!

P.S. Just to keep you on your toes I'm backdating the time of this entry to Thursday to keep it in our post flow.
